Now it is March 14. After resting in Florida with my daughters I finally flew home yesterday. I'm still very, very weak, but I do feel that my strength is returning. If you did not read what happened to me I almost died two times, once in Haiti and once aboard the S.S. Comfort, which was anchored a few miles from Port-au-Prince. Dr. David Marks, from San Antonio, Texas, saved my life the first time (Feb. 19), and a team of doctors (Killian, Bush, Helms, Miller) saved my life two days later aboard the ship. A helicopter met us in a field and took me to the ship. Almost everything that can be done to the human body was done to my body to keep me alive: 9 liters (about two and a half gallons) of saline solution, Foley Catheter,Several Cat Scans, Several Echocardiogams, a Nuclear Stress test of my heart,at one point they Intubated me or I would have died, about 40 blood draws, etc., etc. Only by God's grace am I alive. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me and everyone who helped financially. God bless you all. I will write a detailed report when I get stronger. My precious daughters were my lifeline. I know that their love kept me from dying. More later . . . And thank you for all of your kind emails.
Wes finally left the hospital in Florida yesterday, (March 2 and will stay in Florida to rest and recuperate with some of his daughters. When Wes returns home, he can share more about his experience in Haiti and post photos. Thank you again for your prayers and e-mails.
