By the way . . . my friend, Shirley Estill, has been in a wheel chair for 53 years . . . since April 27, 1962.
And . . . guess what? She has the VICTORY. If she can, you can!
There are times in life when we need to be rescued, or, at least, we feel that we do.
These passages from Isaiah speak very clearly to those who feel forsaken.
And this book is filled with promises that give hope in hopeless situations.
The devastating earthquake in Nepal has left more than 7,000 dead and thousands injured. This 7.8 earthquake was the strongest in Nepal since 1900!
Those who are alive are grieving for relatives, neighbors and friends.
His promise in 48:11 says, "I will rescue you for MY SAKE."
Think about this for a moment: He does not say that He will rescue us for our sake . . . but for His.
This reveals a compassionate God that feels our troubles at least as much as we do. When we hurt, He hurts.
He will rescue you for His Sake!
I alone am God, the First and the Last.
I will not let my reputation be tarnished.
I will tell you things that are entirely new, things you never heard before.
I will tell you new things, secrets you have not yet heard.
Long ago I told you what was going to happen. Then suddenly I took action, and all my predictions came true.
He created all the stars (Ge. 1:16 and Isaiah 40:26).
This makes Him THE STAR MAKER!
Have you ever cried out to Him, "Oh, Star Maker?"
When I call out the stars, they all appear in order (Is. 48:13) . . . and He calls them all by name (Isaiah 40:26 and Ps. 147:4).
150 years before Cyrus was born Isaiah called him by name six times (look them up and count them) . . . and predicted what he was going to do. Try that on for size! And there are still some folks around who don't believe God wrote the Bible?
At just the right time I will respond to you (49:8).
The Lord called me before my birth (49:1).
Kings will stand at attention when you pass by because the Holy One of Israel has chosen you (49:7).
Your children will come back to you and they will be like jewels or bridal ornaments for you to display (49:18).
Those who trust in me will never be put to shame (49:23).
I can speak to the sea and make it dry up (50:2).
I know how to comfort the weary (50:4).
He opens my understanding to His will (50:4b).
I am determined to do His will (50:7).
All my enemies will be destroyed (50:9).
Trust in the Lord and rely on your God (50:10).
Because these are promises from God they are SOLID ROCK. They can all be trusted. Whoever you are, and wherever you are, think upon them. It will give you hope!
